Market Sensing

Making sense of your market place is crucial for competitive advantage. To do this effectively you need to scan the horizons of your environment, and not just understand what is in front of your nose.

  • For us, market sensing (sometimes called environmental scanning) means acquiring, benchmarking and evaluating the implications of information relating to your particular market place.
  • For you, it means you have access to information which can enhance your ability to drive your organisation forward in tomorrow’s competitive environment.

Many organisations have access to information about the market place of today and, less frequently, tomorrow. That information is usually obtained in a haphazard, uncoordinated manner and is often rarely used in an optimum manner. Hence, it tends not to be shared and used within the organisation as a whole.

At Firm Beliefs, we actively scan the environment in a number of sectors, and then organise and distribute information about your market place to each other - and then to you. We believe in freely sharing data, information and knowledge with like-minded people to truly maximize the potential of our network.

Our enquiries are driven by your market needs. We define each market that we serve and work with you to define each market that you serve currently or could serve with your capabilities. This may encompass your clients, your stakeholders or your markets. We monitor your competition and obtain comparative performance measures where we can - this enables you to make decisions about your market, based on evidence where possible.

We actively involve our clients in this process - and we actively involve those who are not clients as well.

As well as consolidating and exchanging information amongst ourselves at Firm Beliefs, we invite those who are external to Firm Beliefs to regular Discussion Days so that we can ensure that we have knowledge of each market that we serve.
