A small niche organisation offered services to the legal services sector. It had hit the market vigorously and developed an excellent reputation in its field. It now needed to consider growth options.
A growth strategy which suited the values and skills of the owners of the business and which also offered manageable growth for them. An action plan was developed which was theirs - it was therefore realistic and likely to be actioned.
A full assessment took place of the business. Over time. Focus was particularly on the feelings of the owners in terms of speed of the project. Discussions took place with key stakeholders in their existing, and hoped-for, markets. The owners were supporting in their developing management skills too - in a structured practical-learning-on-the-job manner. The entire process was relaxed and informal in order not to place further pressure on the owners as they dealt with the demands of a hitherto-unplanned growth in the business.
The owners trusted us and we respected them. Every aspect of the process was realistic, non-theoretical and focused on their timescales driven by their needs on a daily basis. By also engaging their stakeholders in the process, they had a ready made set of 'advocates' and users of their services going forward as the stakeholders saw their contribution and wishes bear fruit.
