Firm Beliefs Client Projects

Many of our clients are happy to provide testimonials but, because of the often confidential nature of what we do in terms of market impact, they prefer not to be named.  We have therefore taken the decision not to name any of our clients.

However, our clients are always willing to talk direct to prospective clients on a confidential basis. Please contact us if you would like to discuss Firm Beliefs' services with any of our clients and we can send you their details.

Negotiation skills are not just for lawyers

A small charity had undergone years of change in terms of both trustee and Chief Executive personnel.  It was clear that the professional managers employed by the charity had lost confidence in the ability of the board of trustees to support both the charity and the employees. The board of trustees had also had a difficult relationship with the various Chief Executives over the years.

Firm Beliefs were invited to 'develop the skills base' of the employees. After some initial meetings with Chief Exec, trustees and employees, it became clear that it was not a lack of skills that was the problem, but rather a lack of communication and willingness to both listen and to advocate different views - by both trustees and staff, including the Chief Exec.

A series of workshops between all levels of staff and with trustees led to better communication within the organisation.   Feedback shows that decisions are made at the right place at the right time by the right people.

In particular, a series of workshops relating to negotiation skills drew out that staff had difficulties negotiating contracts with third parties for the provision of services,  partly because they lacked negotiation skills but also because their legal knowledge was limited.  This placed the charity as a whole at risk in terms of governance and practical daily working.    As a result of this outcome, a series of further workshops led to basic training in legal responsibilities for both trustees and staff.
